Globes of light
What do you do with all those cardboard boxes? You turn them into lampshades of course. Graypants is the trade name for the company that makes the planet shaped shades; they’ve cleverly turned recyclable scrap into a long lasting crafted item for the home. I’ve seen these for real and they’re robust enough, they leave lace-like patterns around the room when the lights are on. If you like ‘earthy’ colours and materials these might work for your lounge.
With the festive season coming right up I thought I’d see what was available in glass globe form and yes, there are baubles galore. I like the way Kelly Hoppen uses Christmas decorations to make a pretty table setting, though I must admit my dinner table is covered from corner to corner with food for family get togethers, you couldn’t fit a bauble in anywhere at all.
Lightbulb designs have developed rapidly in the last few years, some are so attractive you don’t even need lampshades. These clear glass lights are interesting. Keep these permanent fitments dust-free and you have a beautiful display of festive bauble lighting for December, and every month of the year.
